Were it not for a steady stream of knowledgeable network and PC support personnel, commerce in Great Britain (and indeed in most countries) would inevitably be brought to its knees. Consequently, there's a huge requirement for people to support both the systems and the users themselves. The nation's requirement for increasing numbers of skilled and qualified individuals multiplies, as we become significantly more beholden to computers in the modern world.

Does job security honestly exist anywhere now? In the UK for example, where business constantly changes its mind on a whim, we'd question whether it does. Security can now only exist in a rapidly increasing market, driven forward by a shortage of trained workers. It's this shortage that creates the appropriate setting for a secure marketplace - a far better situation.

A recent UK e-Skills investigation brought to light that 26 percent of all IT positions available haven't been filled due to a lack of appropriately certified professionals. Quite simply, we only have the national capacity to fill just 3 out of 4 positions in the computer industry. This glaring notion clearly demonstrates the requirement for more appropriately accredited IT professionals in the UK. It's unlikely if a better time or market state of affairs could exist for obtaining certification in this rapidly expanding and blossoming industry.

Always expect the latest Microsoft (or relevant organisation's) authorised exam preparation packages. Some students can be thrown off course by going through practice questions that don't come from authorised sources. Quite often, the phraseology is unfamiliar and you should be prepared for this. Ensure that you analyse your depth of understanding through quizzes and mock ups of exams to prepare you for taking the actual exam.

Commencing with the understanding that it's necessary to find the employment that excites us first, before we're able to ponder what career training ticks the right boxes, how can we choose the way that suits us? How likely is it for us to understand the tasks faced daily in an IT career when it's an alien environment to us? We normally haven't met someone who works in that sector anyway. Contemplation on the following points is essential if you need to reveal a solution that suits you:

* The type of personality you have and what you're interested in - the sort of work-centred jobs you like and dislike.

* What is the time-frame for the training process?

* What are your thoughts on travelling time and locality vs salary?

* Getting to grips with what typical IT types and sectors are - plus how they're different to each other.

* How much effort you'll have available to set aside for the training program.

When all is said and done, your only chance of investigating all this is from a meeting with a professional who knows the industry well enough to give you the information required.
