CompTIA A + has a total of two exams and study sections, and you need to get your exams in each area to be thought of as qualified. As well as being taught about building and fixing computers, students on an A+ training course will learn how to work in antistatic conditions, how to fault find, to diagnose and to remotely access problems. If you're considering being the kind of individual who is involved with a big team - in network support, add Network+ to your CompTIA A+, or consider the Microsoft networking route (MCSA - MCSE) because it's necessary to have a better comprehension of how networks function.

You have to make sure that all your qualifications are what employers want - you're wasting your time with courses which provide certificates that are worthless because they're 'in-house'. If your certification doesn't come from a big-hitter like Microsoft, CompTIA, Adobe or Cisco, then chances are it will be commercially useless - because no-one will recognise it.

Considering how a program is 'delivered' to you can often be overlooked. How many parts is the training broken down into? What is the order and at what speed is it delivered? The majority of training companies will set up a 2 or 3 year study programme, and send out each piece as you get to the end of each exam. On the surface this seems reasonable - until you consider the following: What would their reaction be if you find it difficult to do every section at the speed they required? Sometimes their preference of study order doesn't come as naturally as an alternative path could be.
